 Conference for Link Co-ordinators

A very successful one day conference:

'Awareness & Safety in our Catholic Communities'

for the Conference of Religious in Scotland was held on Saturday 17th May 2008 in St. Mungo’s Parish Hall, Parson Street, Glasgow, G4 0RX.

This was a joint enterprise between the National Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults and the Conference of Religious in Scotland.

The Conference was attended by Link Co-ordinators from across the congregations.   This was an opportunity for those present to consider the information from the collated audit of child protection and vulnerable adult practice and allow members to have an overview of the progress made since our last meeting in September 2007.  A copy of the new documents were distributed to the participants i.e.

- Manual
- Welcome Guide
- Poster
- A Summary of Good Practice leaflets

The outcome of the day was clearly about prioritising tasks for the coming year and how they might be achieved.  There is a growing understanding of safeguarding issues related to safe recruitment practice within Religious Orders.

The National Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults clearly enjoys the support of CRS in Scotland.
