Awareness and Safety in our Catholic Communities
Conference of Religious in Scotland
Saturday 16th May 2009, St. Mungo’s Parish Hall, Glasgow
Link Co-ordinators from Religious congregations across Scotland came together at the annual safeguarding meeting at St Mungo’s Parish Hall, Parson Street, Glasgow on Saturday 16th May 2009.
The purpose of the meeting organised by the National Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults and the Executive for the Conference of Religious in Scotland was to discuss our progress and outline the measures we will take in the current year to help provide safe environments for all. The principle objective is to evidence our shared commitment to work together and the meeting allowed an opportunity for the identified representatives from each Religious congregation in Scotland to share good practice and learn from others.
This year’s agenda began with reviewing the detail of policy implementation and exchanging information on the development of a safeguarding commission for the Religious in Scotland.
Our aim is to improve safeguarding practice in the Church in Scotland and the day focused on supporting key representatives from the Religious congregations to make sure we get it right for the Church community.
